A Brighter Future And It Begins on Our Plates

How do healthier food choices change your body? What are our options - Vegetarianism, Veganism, Keto, Weight Watchers, etc etc etc. When our oldest son was around 8 or 9 years old he told us that he didn’t want to eat animals anymore. This was the beginning of our journey toward a Plant-Based lifestyle. We had no idea what food choices were out there for him. We cooked our regular meals and found some Morningstar meatless products for him to eat. This method worked for our family since I wasn’t ready to join him and give up meat or cheese 😬 just yet. Today we have plenty of food options, transitional foods as I call them, if we choose to move toward a Plant-Based or Vegan lifestyle.

What does it mean to be Vegan? According to the article “Vegan Meaning? What is a Vegan” from https://www.Vegan.com/what/, “the word vegan was initially defined as a diet free of animal-based foods (such as meat, dairy products, eggs, and honey). Nowadays, the word‘s meaning is commonly extended to refer to non-food products- such as clothing, cosmetics, and medicine-that are made without animal-derived substances” by Erik Marcus. If and when you choose to change your eating habits others tend to question your decision. Friends and family alike.

It’s a personal choice for each of us what path we want to take. Why do people move toward being Vegan? Mr. Marcus wrote an essay making a case for why we should go vegan titled, “Why Go Vegan?” He gives us a glimpse inside of what it means. People will joke and question you saying things like, “What do you eat - grass?” and “How do you get your protein?” Our response continues to be “Vegetables” and we give examples of animals that are herbivores. We will pose our own questions as to how these animals get their protein and size without eating meat daily. We have been conditioned to think a certain way about our food and never thought or questioned if there were better options for healthier living. Five years ago our family made the leap toward Plant-Based eating and we have reaped the benefits from the change. I offer and invite you to check out the following videos:
